Diamond: He's (AHA) registered as Zeus Tamar, a black Half-Arabian but he is in fact more of a seal brown color. He was born 8/28/99. I got him as a weanling with the intention of using him for stud to my Paint/Pinto mares (I was breeding for spotted Arabs. At one time I had 5 studs but am now down to 2.) Diamond has been a "pocket pony" all his life; meaning that he has been a pet from the very beginning. Even as a stud, he and my grand-daughter were buddies. She is a year older than him and it was nothing for them to wander around the yard with her on his back with only a halter and/or lead rope. Once she even rode him straight thru the door and into my kitchen! When I decided to change directions with my horse hobby, I gelded Diamond. I started him under saddle 2 summers ago. He is such a personable guy that it is a shame to send him away by round-penning him. So instead, I saddled him and rode him in the pen (in less than 30 minutes) and then trailered him to go trail riding for the weekend. He was easy to saddle and mount and a little head strong in the beginning but settled in nicely after we got away from camp. Since that first outing I've ridden him only 6 or 7 times. He's been ridden here at the house by prospective buyers without incident but he still has a lot to learn and will "fall thru the cracks" here because of my backlog of horses to get under saddle this year. He's always been handled gently and will do most anything for a treat. He's a very easy keeper and stays fat on the "full access" timothy/orchard grass hay I feed. In fact, too much alfalfa and "fatty" grains tend to upset his stomach. He is another one that I sometimes will ride bareback with a lead rope while I'm waiting for the water troughs to fill up. He ranks about mid-range as far as being dominant is concerned. Usually the bossy mares and fillies keep him in line. He only seems to exert his will on newer additions to his field until they get to know each other. He's got a beautiful floating action! He's okay with my farrier, ties to a picket line, and trailers well. He measures just under 14.2 hands.
